Kingston needs YOU!
Sign up now to these exciting events and bring a friend:
Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st March 2010,
All Saints Church, Market Square, Kingston
10am – 1pm or 3pm – 6pm both days
In less than 2 years, Transition Town Kingston has gained a mass membership, enjoyed a range of eye-opening film screenings, talks and debates, worked together with the Council, schools and other community groups, held a mass public visioning event and started practical projects in food, energy and textiles. Most recently TTK has won the award for Best Green Group at the Green Guardian awards, sponsored by the Kingston Guardian newspaper and Kingston Council.
It’s the energy and enthusiasm of Kingston people like you which have led Artgym, a London-based company which has worked with organisations such as Adidas and Lastminute.com, to propose a joint venture. We’re calling it “Our Kingston, Our Future”: four creative workshop sessions which bring older and younger people (19-25 and over 55) together to share their experiences of Kingston and their ideas for making it greener and better – all filmed to create a ground-breaking documentary celebrating our town.
Want to be part of it? Can you make 3 hours in the morning or afternoon on 20th or 21st March? Please sign up right now at www.ourkingstonourfuture.org/signup/
Are you able to share this opportunity with a friend or neighbour? Just visit www.ourkingstonourfuture.org/signup/ to send them a message. Make sure they tell us how they heard about the events when they sign up – recruit the most people to these events and you have a chance to win £100!
We hope you will come and contribute your stories, creativity and ideas to the events and the Kingston documentary. If you’d like to support us spreading the word, contact email@example.com for a set of high-quality full-colour posters and postcards to help you approach people you know or community groups you’re involved with. Simple things like inviting a friend or putting the website address in your email signature will also help!
The success of the Our Kingston, Our Future events will bring great things for Kingston and be an example that other London boroughs can follow. Most importantly, though, it will attract a whole new group of interested, enthusiastic new members who can help people like you start the projects you want to see to make Kingston a more sustainable place.
